Cocktail Recipe: Long Island Iced Tea

Long Island Iced tea is a cocktail classic, sitting in the top 5 of the world's most popular. A highball (a mixed drink with an alcohol base and a larger proportion of non-alcohol mixer), the drink is famed for having been created in Long Island, New York (no surprise). Despite its name, the drink does not actually contain tea, but the mixture results in a beverage with a similar hue and flavour.

Recipe

1 part tequila

1 part rum

1 part gin

1 part triple sec

1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix

1 splash cola

Mix the ingredients together over ice in a glass.

Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake (too much and you risk watering down your cocktail).

Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top.
